一、泰戈尔
《读者》杂志2003年第14期上曾经刊登过此诗，署名是泰戈尔，出处《飞鸟集》。
目前引用这首有署名的大部分署为泰戈尔，但也有人借用果戈理的小说大加讽刺。讲俄罗斯一名伪诗人伏西洛夫将这首诗当作自己的创作朗诵给大家听。
当太太小姐们感动得啜泣流泪快要崇拜他时，一名真理的捍卫者走上讲台：“请允许我向亲爱的伏西洛夫道歉，我说他剽窃是不对的。昨天我翻阅了泰戈尔诗集，发现《世界上最遥远的距离》仍然还在那里……”可见网上有一股坚定的力量在保卫泰戈尔对这首诗的创作权。

理由：语言风格相似。
考证：事实不清，证据不足。
三、张小娴
张小娴的小说《荷包里的单人床》里有一段“世界上最遥远的距离，不是生与死的距离，不是天各一方，而是，我就站在你面前，你却不知道我爱你”。
在《荷包里的单人床》的再版序中，张小娴有详细的说明。她本人当时只写了第一段，后面部分是别人续写的。
